Our Story
We are four physicians who have previously spent our careers training and educating residents and caring for patients in a traditional health care setting. On a personal level, we have successfully navigated life issues that are common to so many of us - parenting, juggling career and family, midlife, menopause, and caring for aging parents. We have learned how to take control of and improve our own health and well-being through nutrition, exercise and other wellness strategies.
One of the aspects of medicine that we so strongly value is having the ability to develop meaningful relationships with our patients and to be able to spend the time needed to make positive impacts in their lives. We felt constrained working in a system that placed more value on treatment and procedures than prevention, and often demanded unsustainable productivity while providing quality of care at the highest level.
We believe there is a better way. Enter Lifestyle Medicine, an evidence-based specialty that focuses on lifestyle behavior change as the primary means of preventing, treating, and reversing chronic medical conditions. This field represents an area of medicine that was lacking in our medical education and training, yet it is at the very core of improving one’s quality of life. Certainly, there is a place for prescription medications and procedures in certain situations, and we do not want to understate the role of these treatment modalities.
With our medical expertise, we can help guide you on your journey to prevent and reverse chronic health conditions by incorporating the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine: whole foods plant predominant diet, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and social connection.

FAQs
-
As your Lifestyle Medicine doctor, we will focus on lifestyle behavior change as the primary means of preventing, treating and reversing chronic medical conditions, with a goal of helping to decrease the need for prescription medications and improve your quality of life. We will work with your PCP as the need for some medications will decrease.
We will take time to get to know you. We will develop and provide an evidence based, individualized treatment plan that will include specific recommendations on heautlhy eating, exercise, and other lifestyle medicine pillars. We will ensure consistent follow up and support along the way to optimize your success.
Our intent is not to replace the need for a primary care provider, who will still be essential to you for managing acute illnesses, providing any needed prescriptions or vaccinations and for performing or ordering screening tests such as mammograms, pap tests, colon cancer screening etc.
-
We do not accept insurance, but if you have a health savings account (HSA) or flexible savings account (FSA), you are able to use those accounts to pay for our services.
Our practice model is distinct from a traditional healthcare model in terms of the in-depth individualized care we provide. We feel that the value our patients receive exceeds that of many other services for which people choose to pay out of pocket to optimize their health and well-being.

When you schedule an initial 60 minute consultation appointment you will complete an in-depth intake form on a confidential and secure platform. At the time of your first visit, we will review your intake form where we will get to know each other, review your goals and our practice philosophy. You may need to request records from your primary care provider to determine if any baseline labs are needed. A physical exam will include height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, waist circumference, and grip strength. Depending on your current health and level of fitness, you may be asked to perform a baseline cardiovascular assessment. We will also schedule a body composition assessment.
-
At your 2nd visit we will review your body composition and lab results as well as a plan for each of the 6 pillars of Lifestyle Medicine: nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, social connection and avoiding risky substances. Monthly follow-up visits will be conducted via telemedicine to assess your progress and make any adjustments needed. You will have a repeat full assessment at 6-months to review goals, labs, physical exam and fitness testing. Body composition testing will also be repeated at this time.
-
Yes! We offer both in-person and telemedicine appointments. You choose which option works better for you.

Of course!!! The nutrition pillar of lifestyle medicine focuses on a whole foods plant-predominant diet, with an emphasis on avoiding ultra-processed foods, excessive sodium and added sugar consumption. Ultimately, we want to support you on a healthier nutrition journey that will be achievable and sustainable for you. For you, this may mean including some meat and seafood in your diet in addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and plant-based protein sources.
-
We offer any evidence-based hormonal therapies for peri- and post-menopausal women and offer testosterone replacement therapy for men as medically-indicated with laboratory evidence of low-testosterone.
-
Our practice does not offer routine gynecologic care such as cervical cancer screenings and contraceptive management or evaluation and treatment for common gynecologic problems such as abnormal uterine bleeding. However, we can provide medical advice and make recommendations and referrals where appropriate.
